The importance of swimming
Why do you ask if swimming is important in life? It is very much important for your survival as is walking to start your life. Yes, you did go places even before you walked. But that was aided, helped, controlled, and less free. You were dependent on others, on your family and near ones to achieve movement.
The same way guess for swimming. In life, you will get the help you require to move and live. However, to survive, you need to swim.
Take the example of a basic typical human. I do agree there are exceptions to all rules. Let's not foray in that direction and stick to the basic so-called normal scenario.
When a human is born, the parents nurture the baby and help the little one grow. They are a boat for holding the little one. Helping the baby survive in the harsh sea of life.
As the baby grows, they get heavy and the parents need a little help. They ask their child to aid the help of a spouse. This is nice and ideal. It is here where the "Journey of life" begins.
The child, now all grown up places one foot in the boat called Parents and one foot on the boat called Spouse. Together they uphold him over the turbulent and also calm waters of the world.
As long as both the boats move in the same direction, all is fine. But even a degree change in one of them and the man has choices.
Choices are a blessing and also a bane in this world. You need to select. Select one and discard the others. In a non freedom environment all your decisions are pre selected. You take the one available to you whether you like it or not. No reason to hurt or harm, unless that is the decision available to you. In freedom, you are responsible for the decision you take.
Now the choices though limited have to be made. It's ironic that you have no choice in that.
Choice 1:
Hop on to the boat called Spouse and bid adieu to your parents. Your friends and family will support you. But deep down it will consume you if you have a conscience. The little pike will sit in the and add sticks to the fire called Guilt.
Some of them will pour water to flood their insides and down the poor fellow. While others will burn slowly, in the desperation to get back or in the state they are in.
If your boat is a yatch, then good for you, else happy floating around like the rest of the boats floating around with their happy or not-so-happy occupant.
Choice 2:
Hop on to the boat called Parents. You will need to make sacrifices to do this. Your boat might not last for long. But yes, parents being parents will help you float and carry on. If you are the lucky ones, then friend and family will be there to support and guide you through your journey.
In some countries this option is despised. But in the "family-oriented" ones, this is the right option. The family is a boat, a ship, more like a super stellar space ship. A planet you could say, moving through the vast recesses of space. You are a part of it. The boat called Spouse is but merely a life boat in case of emergency.
However, if you the the boat chooses to leave, then that is the different choice made.
Choice 3:
Finally we come to the last choice. Yes, you do not have the option of All of the above. Well logically, it is the All of the above option. Where you cling to both the boats. Holding and trying your best to steer then in the same direction.
Your legs will ache and pain. You will need to stretch a lot and use a lot of your effort in holding, rather than sailing. But then, again it's your choice.
You can go on for as long as you can. If you are a good navigator, most of humans aren't, then you will survive.
Else, there will come a point where you can hold on no longer. And then in a second your selection of All of the above turns to None of the above.
You falter, toss, and with a splash you go down. Deep down into the sea of life. The cold water chilling you to the bone. Making you realise that this is life. And like all things you are faced with the same dilemma that you started with. Make a choice.
A choice to just freeze and go down, and continue to do so into limbo.
OR SWIM. Break fourth thorough the cold and swim. Fly through the water to the surface. The first breath you take will be exhilarating. Will make you feel free. You will realise, the possibilities are endless.
Swim to one of your boats that you wish to be on. Some will swim to other boats and start a new journey or repeat the same one that they escaped from.
Others will swim and find their Island of happiness. Where they are King and ruler. A port for other visitors and ships alike to visit.
End note: in the end, your life is nothing but the choices you make. Still I say Learn to SWIM.
